Mika has gone. She was snuggling with TOH on the bed and everything
simply stopped. We have taken her to the vet for cremation, so if you
want to make a memorial donation we would be grateful.

We just got back from an emergency vet trip with Mika. She is our 9 year old dilated cardiomyopathy patient. Today she threw two blood clots, one in the brain and one in the lungs. Her equilibrium isn’t great, her breathing is very slightly labored due to the impairment of her lungs and her heart is doing the funky chicken. However, she is still alert and doesn’t appear to be in any great distress.
Our vet loaded her up with heparin, steroids and a shot to help her breathe, in the hopes that we can break up the clot in her lungs at the very least. Because she’s still alert, and brains bounce back better than lungs do, we’re not as worried about the brain.
Because of the nature of hospice care and our funding status, we don’t do heroic measures at the Sanctuary, so a visit to the canine cardiologist is not on the table.
A year and a half ago we were at the emergency vet in Amarillo, Texas, with the prognosis that she wouldn’t survive the night. But Mika is a tough and determined little gal, and she pulled through. We’re hoping she’s still as tough and determined today.
If you would like to donate to MIka’s emergency care, you can do so via paypal to Pughollow@gmail.com, via youcaring to https://www.youcaring.com/pughollowsanctuary-1074015, by mail to Pug Hollow Sanctuary, PO Box 244, Prague, OK 74864 or directly to our vet at 405-567-2219.
Donated dog food would also be helpful as we can then funnel food funds into the vet care funding. http://www.pughollowsanctuary.org/dog-food-drive.php

Marge’s Silly Saturday. I went into the kitchen and heard Speedy
whining and fussing behind me. I finish loading the dishwasher as his
fuss gets more frantic, and head back into the kitchen to see… Marge had given Speedy a flat tire. I think it’s payback from all the times he aggressively bathed her at night.
